As one of the most internationally decorated teams, the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) has highlighted an ongoing issue of the pay disparity in their sport. In March 2019, players have filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against the United States Soccer Federation.

Although the women have the most success, the men continue to make more money. A previous argument regarding the disparity was that the men generate more revenue, but what happens when women begin to make more revenue than the men, which is now the case for the USWNT. Regarding the World Cup tournament, a Forbes article answers the reason for the pay discrepancy there. However, with women's soccer popularity continuing to rise, it is important to find other ways to make sure the women's team gets their fair share of benefits. Corporations must come together and make the numbers work for those putting in the most labor especially with their repeated success.

Do I think a pay gap is always because of discrimination? No. But when there are many factors that match between men and women, yet the pay is still not within the same average, there is cause for concern and a reason to pursue change.
