The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) beat host
team France yesterday and is moving on to the semi-finals against England. The
USWNT won 2-1 with Megan Rapinoe scoring both goals of the game. However, yesterday’s
stand out star was Left Back Crystal Dunn whose defense was crucial for the game
win. Playing a position she does not normally play, critics were wondering what
coach Ellis was thinking when she chose Dunn as Left Back for this important tournament.
After the victory, it was clear why Ellis made that decision.
"Dunn vs Diani was like the undercard to the whole fight. And Dunn won the fight!"@enialu and @AlexiLalas break down @crysdunn_19's performance and the @USWNT defense as a whole. 💯 pic.twitter.com/mwmQjkNoYD— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 28, 2019
Crystal Dunn was relentless against France’s Kadidiatou
Diani in yesterday’s game and the publicity she is getting is well deserved. As
the quote goes, “the best offense is a great defense” and it proved right in
yesterdays win. The USWNT went into the game knowing it was going to be a tough
match and Crystal Dunn stepped up to block any ball opportunity that France was
given. Her strength and versatility as a soccer player was highlighted yesterday
and I am glad that people are now noticing her as a player to watch out for on
the pitch.
